A. Bruce Cleveland - President and Chief Executive Officer

A. Bruce Cleveland is President and CEO, and principal shareholder of Presidential Bank, FSB, headquartered in Bethesda, Maryland. With more than thirty years experience in the banking industry, Cleveland is uniquely qualified to lead Presidential Online Bank, the nation’s first online bank and a division of Presidential Bank, FSB, one of the few remaining privately held banks in the United States. Presidential has approximately $450 million in assets, focusing its lending primarily on commercial real estate and technology-oriented business credit, with an equal emphasis on providing high interest, high service consumer deposit accounts.

Cleveland also serves as President of GIT Investment Services, Inc., and its affiliated companies of Arlington, Virginia (1975 to present). Cleveland is the founder, CEO and principal stockholder, and registered broker-deal and member of NASD, which provides discount brokerage services, insured bank deposit products, international emerging markets finance, and through affiliates, US Government guaranteed finance and private investments.

Cleveland’s financial experience presence transcends US boundaries, as he has served as a consultant for the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development in London, England (1990-1991). Cleveland was a part time senior representative of this multilateral development bank for formerly communist countries, of which the US and the member countries of the European Union are the primary owners. Cleveland acted as principal adviser to the Privatization Ministry of the Republic of Poland, in connection with Poland’s mass privatization program to privatize substantial numbers of larger state-owned enterprises.

Prior to joining the European Bank, Cleveland served as Special Assistant for SBIC Industry Development, US Small Business Administration, Washington, DC (1973-1974), as the Administration’s representative responsible for liaison with financial institutions throughout the US to foster creation of federally-sponsored Small Business Investment Companies, which are privately-owned venture capital firms that receive financing from the US Government under favorable terms.

Cleveland’s impressive career began as an Associate in the Corporate Finance Department at Drexel, Burnham & Company in New York (1971-1973). There, he was a member of the investment banking department, assisting on a variety of public offerings and private placements.

Cleveland is a graduate of the Philips Academy, and has a bachelor’s degree in Modern European History (minor in Physics) from Harvard College. He also holds a Master’s degree in Business Administration in Finance from Harvard Business School.
